STANDARD VALUATION
All of our customers receive a standard amount of valuation
protection with every move at "no charge". This is the coverage that
should be supplied by all movers, which blankets your belongings for 60
cents per pound per article. So for example if you had an article that
weighed 100 lbs. you would be covered for $60.00. An administrative fee
of $100.00 applies on any claim.
DECLARED VALUATION
For those customers who wish to have
their belongings protected for more than the standard amount of
protection we offer Declared Valuation coverage. This protection gives
you extra coverage of all your belongings for a nominal cost of $5.00
per $1000.00 Declared. Our minimum requirement for Declared
Valuation coverage is that you declare 4 times your weight of the
article(s) being moved. This valuation
protection covers you for repair or replacement of like kind and quality
up to $4.00 a lb. Items with a value over
$5,000.00 must be declared separately with Replacement Value. If you
wish you can add Replacement Value, on a per item basis, it's charged at
$5.00 per $ 1,000 declared. An administrative fee of
$100.00 applies on any claim.
For long haul moves the charge for Declared Value is, $6.00 per
$1,000. The minimum requirement for all long haul moves is 8 times
the weight of the shipment. Items with a value over
$5,000.00 must be declared separately. This coverage will protect you on a total
loss up to the total amount declared or $5.00
per lb. The administrative fee of $ 100.00 is waived on GCVL Long
Haul shipments.
An administrative fee of $100.00 applies on all other claims.

With both types of coverage over they're certain conditions and exceptions that
apply. See "Terms & Conditions".
REPLACEMENT VALUATION
In order to include Replacement Value on an article you must 1st choose Declared
Valuation on the whole shipment and then request Replacement Valuation to be added
onto the items your have concerns about. For example if you were moving approximately 2,000
lbs of furniture your Declared Value would need to be 4 times your estimated
weight for a local move for a total loss value of $ 8,000 or up to $ 4.00 per lb on
individual articles. Within your shipment if you have an item that is
worth $ 5,000 you would need to declared separately as Replacement Value. All items with Replacement Value Declared will be listed on
the Bill of Laiding and be thoroughly inspected and inventoried at pickup and the same
done at delivery. In both cases your signature will be required to verify the
condition. Charges per $1,000 declared on Replacement Value are the same as Declared Valuation as noted
above of $ 5.00 per $ 1,000 declared in value. Full Replacement Valuation coverage is subject to the same term and
conditions as Standard and Declared Valuation.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: All cartons packed by the
customer are not covered for their contents under any of our plans unless the box has been
packed or unpacked by Tender Touch. Other articles that can't be guaranteed are articles
left loose for transport that should be packed, articles packed in plastic bags, items
made out of pressboard and mechanical operation of any item. To have your articles fully
protected choose to have Tender Touch pack and unpack for you. Tender Touch Moving
will not take responsibility for lost or damaged currency, jewelry, or valuable papers
these items must be moved by the customer.
STORAGE
$ 2.00 per month per $1,000 declared for moves stored at our
locations across Canada
VEHICLES
Vehicles hipped inland via Hansen or Sea Rail have a zero
deductible and are fully covered for their red book value. Antiques are excluded and
certain terms and conditions apply to all shipments. If a vehicle is being shipped
Overseas, Marine Cargo Insurance would apply see below.
OVERSEAS
Overseas shipments are excluded from the above types of protections but are rather
covered under Marine Cargo Insurance based on a per $1,000
declaration. You have 2 choices 1. Waive Coverage, 2. All Risk
Replacement. The minimum premium charge is $ 50.00.
Waive Coverage: With this option you would waive
responsibility for all carriers involved in transporting your shipment for loss or damage
or any sort. This option is not recommended.
All Risk Replacement Insurance: Will protect you against
total loss or individual item loss as well as any physical damage to your property.
If you choose to pack your own boxes and/or pad your own furniture the insurance company
may dismiss your claim in the case of damage as the damage could have been due to improper
preparation. It is recommended to have professional movers pack your cartons and
properly corrugate your furniture for best protection. The charges for this coverage
are 2.5% of the value declared $250.00 deductible applies.
Overseas insurance requires that a declaration of the value of
all items insured be listed on an inventory form which we will provide to you. All
items with a value over $500.00 must be declared separately.
